This page explains what each Bayrol product is for, so you can pick the right one for a pool that runs at 27 to 30 °C all year under strong Caribbean sun.
Chlorine: the base of your treatment
In the tropics, UV light destroys unstabilised chlorine within hours. That is why most villa pools here run on stabilised chlorine, which protects itself from the sun.
Slow tablets for daily disinfection
- Chlorilong Classic: slow-dissolving chlorine tablets for steady disinfection, in a skimmer or floating dispenser.
- Chlorilong Power and Chlorilong Ultimate 7: multi-action tablets that combine chlorine with other functions in one product.
- Chlorilong 250 in 25 kg for larger pools or several pools.
Fast chlorine for a boost or a shock
- Chlorifix, Chloriklar and Stabichloran (3 kg and 25 kg): quick-dissolving chlorine to raise the level fast, after heavy use, a storm or a period without care.
- Chloryte (25 kg) and Chloriliquid (10 L and 20 L) for professionals and large volumes.
See all chlorine and treatment products in water treatment.
pH and alkalinity
Chlorine only works well when the pH sits in the right range, typically between 7.0 and 7.4. A pH that drifts makes the water irritating and wastes chlorine.
- pH minus and pH plus, as granules or liquid, from small home sizes up to 25 kg and 20 L.
- Alca-Plus raises total alkalinity, which keeps the pH from swinging every day.
Test at least once a week with strips or a test kit from our accessories, more often in high season when a villa is fully booked.
Algae, cloudy water and phosphates
Heat and tropical rain make algae grow in a few days if the treatment slips. Bayrol has a product for each step:
- Desalgin Classic as a preventive algaecide, added regularly.
- Desalgin Shock to treat green water quickly, with a chlorine shock.
- Superflock to clump fine particles so the filter can catch them and the water clears.
- Nophos to remove phosphates, the food algae thrive on, after rain or sargassum episodes.
Water costs around 9.50 € per m³ on the French side (AFD figure), so bringing a green pool back with these products is usually far cheaper than draining it. Before the hurricane season, see our guide on hurricane pool preparation.
Spas and salt pools
The SpaTime range is made for hot tubs and spas, where hot water and small volumes need gentler, precise dosing.
Salt pools are common on the island. We stock pool salt in 25 kg bags, Salt QuickTest strips to check salinity, and Cellule Rénov to clean the electrolysis cell of your salt chlorinator. Bordnet cleans the scum line at the waterline.
Home sizes or professional sizes
Most products come in home sizes in our home range and in large 25 kg and 20 L packs in the professional range. Villa managers and pool technicians can read our page for trade customers.

Bayrol questions
Which Bayrol chlorine is best for a villa pool in St Martin?
Stabilised slow tablets such as Chlorilong are the usual base, because they resist strong UV. Add a fast chlorine like Chlorifix after heavy use or a storm. Ask us for a dose adapted to your volume.
Can I order Bayrol online and collect in store?
Yes. Order on the online shop and choose pick-up at our store in Baie Nettlé, or delivery on the island with conditions shown at checkout.
Do you have Bayrol products for spas?
Yes, we carry the SpaTime range for hot tubs and spas.
My water is green. Which products do I need?
Usually a chlorine shock, Desalgin Shock, then Superflock to clear the water, with the pH checked first. Contact us with a photo and your pool volume and we will tell you the quantities.
