Pool maintenance in St Martin

Mister Pool offers pool maintenance in Saint-Martin, run from its pool and spa store at 87 Rue de Sandy Ground in Baie Nettlé. We look after the water, the treatment and the cleaning of private pools, using the same Bayrol products we stock in the shop.

Every pool is different, so we do not publish a one-size price. Tell us where your pool is and what you need, and we will tell you what we can do, with a clear quote before anything starts.

Why pool care is different in the Caribbean

A pool in St Martin never gets a winter break. The water sits between 27 and 30 °C all year round, which is perfect for swimming and just as perfect for algae. When the treatment slips for a few days, a clear pool can turn cloudy, then green.

The tropical sun is the second challenge. Strong UV breaks down chlorine that is not stabilised within hours, so a pool can look fine in the morning and have almost no active chlorine by the afternoon. That is why we work with stabilised chlorine such as Bayrol Chlorilong and Stabichloran, and keep an eye on the stabiliser level so it does not climb too high.

Water is also expensive here: on the French side it costs around 9.5 € per cubic metre according to the AFD, against 4.14 € in mainland France. Emptying a pool to start again is a costly last resort. Good maintenance is about treating the water you already have and keeping it healthy.

What a maintenance visit covers

The exact routine depends on your pool, its equipment and how it is used, but a proper visit usually includes:

  • Water testing and balancing: chlorine, pH and alkalinity, corrected with the right Bayrol product and dose.
  • Disinfection: stabilised chlorine tablets, granules or liquid chlorine, or a check of the salt level and the cell on a salt water pool.
  • Cleaning: skimming the surface, brushing walls and steps, vacuuming the floor and emptying the skimmer and pump baskets.
  • Waterline: removing the greasy ring left by sun cream and dust, with a product like Bayrol Bordnet.
  • Filter care: checking the pressure and backwashing or cleaning the filter when needed.
  • A quick look at the equipment: anything that sounds, leaks or looks wrong is pointed out to you.

After rain, sargassum or a storm

Heavy tropical rain dilutes the treatment and shifts the pH. Wind on the east coast brings leaves, sand and sometimes the smell of sargassum. After a storm, the water can turn brown with debris. These are the moments when a pool needs attention quickly, and we can advise on a shock treatment such as Desalgin Shock or a flocculant like Superflock to recover the water without draining it. Our hurricane season guide explains how to prepare before June.

Salt water pools

Salt chlorinators are common on the island. They still need the pH kept in range, the salt level checked and the cell cleaned from time to time, because limescale builds up on the plates. We use Bayrol Salt QuickTest to read the salt level and Cellule Rénov to clean the cell, and the same products are on the shelf if you prefer to do it yourself.

Prefer to look after your pool yourself?

Many owners do their own maintenance, and we are happy to help them do it well. Visit the store in Baie Nettlé with a water sample or a few details about your pool, or browse the water treatment products and the cleaning accessories online. Our page on Bayrol in St Martin explains which product does what.

For villas and rental properties

If you manage several villas or own a home you rent out while you are away, ask us about maintenance and supplies for all your pools in one place. Our villa managers page explains how we can work with you.

Pool maintenance: your questions

How much does pool maintenance cost?

It depends on the size of the pool, its equipment, its location and what you need. We do not publish a fixed price: contact us with these details and we will send you a quote.

Do you cover my area?

Tell us where your pool is and we will tell you whether we can take it on. You can check our service area page for how we work across the island.

Which products do you use?

We work with Bayrol water treatment products, the same range we sell in the store: stabilised chlorine, pH correctors, algaecides, flocculants and salt pool care.

Can you help with a green pool?

Yes, contact us as soon as possible. A green pool usually needs a shock treatment, cleaning and filtration, and the earlier it is treated the easier it is to recover.
